Project Timeline

Basic Module Outline Feedback
  1. IC Team establishes a contact librarian for the project at each of the 5 participating campuses.
  2. IC Team establishes a contact librarian for the remaining
  3. CSU campuses.
  4. IC Team develops basic outline.
  5. CSU librarians review basic outline.
  6. IC Team reviews and analyzes feedback and incorporates
  7. changes to outline.
  8. IC Team develops modules from the outline.

Identifying Discipline-Specific Information Competencies

  1. IC Team contacts participating CSUs to start identifying discipline-specific competencies.
  2. CSU librarians complete feedback on discipline-specific competencies.
  3. IC Team draws up discipline-specific competencies checklist, places checklist on WWW, prints and distributes to participating libraries.
  4. CSU librarians initiate faculty outreach (personal contact or questionnaire) to solicit suggestions for the discipline-specific competencies checklist.
  5. CSU librarians collate faculty outreach results and revise discipline-specific competencies checklist.
  6. IC Team places final list on WWW.
  7. Team seeks additional funding for further collaborative librarian-faculty efforts.

Information Competence Course (3 units)

  1. IC Team develops course outline.
  2. IC Team teaches pilot course in Spring Quarter, 1997.
  3. IC Team evaluates pilot course.
  4. IC Team assesses which course components could be integrated into the curriculum of various departments.
