About Kennedy Library
The Robert E. Kennedy Library, a unit of Academic Affairs, provides instructional services and information resources for student and faculty teaching, learning, and research.
The Kennedy Library supports the teaching and research missions of academic departments and colleges by:
- evaluating and building collections,
- providing independent and mediated access to information resources regardless of format or location, and
- demonstrating and teaching effective knowledge management to students and teaching faculty.
The Kennedy Library develops its collections and plans information access strategies according to policies based on a continuing analysis of the University's evolving academic programs, research interests, and user needs. Long-standing CSU policy supports a centralized Library on each campus to promote effective resource sharing and collaborative learning.
Our Mission
The mission of the Robert E. Kennedy Library is to provide access to information and services critical to student success and faculty achievement. The library also promotes intellectual freedom and cultural diversity at Cal Poly and the greater community.
As the campus center for information resources, the library integrates traditional materials with technology to advance the university's polytechnic curricula and its distinctive "learn-by-doing" philosophy.
We fulfill our mission through building and preserving collections, teaching and guiding library users, providing a supportive learning environment, and maintaining excellence in information technologies.
